These 5 best cat boarding facilities in Vancouver gave us peace of mind during travels!

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

When my parents were a bit younger, we would leave our cats with them when we were on vacation. Now that they don’t have the same energy to watch over them, we know we have to tap the experts so we can continue traveling.

Good thing Vancouver has the best cat boarding facilities, making our cats feel like they’re home! Now, we can continue traveling without the need to rush home.

So if you’re looking for a boarding facility you can trust, it’s your lucky day! Continue reading our list of the best ones we’ve tried and see why we loved them!

How much does cat boarding cost in Vancouver?

Typically, basic cat boarding facilities in Vancouver would cost around $20 to $50 per night. Meanwhile, some luxury facilities may charge more premium rates for private rooms and additional amenities.

How we chose:

Cleanliness: We considered whether the boarding facility is clean and hygienic, ensuring the well-being and health of cats on board.
Safety: We checked if the facility has safety protocols in place. It’s important for us that they’re knowledgeable about the various temperaments and behaviors of cats.
Space: We considered the amount of space dedicated for each cat. We also checked if there are comfortable areas for resting, and an area to play around.
Emergency preparedness: We checked if the cat boarding facility knows how to respond to medical emergencies.

We’re well aware that some owners don’t want their beloved cats to mingle with other pets such as dogs—and that’s where Purrfect Cat Boarding comes to the rescue!

Here, you can have more peace of mind that they only stay in a quiet and comfortable home while you’re not around.

Booking for a boarding slot for your cat is pretty easy, which we love. If you’re an existing customer, you just need to book 2 days before your intended check-in.

While they prioritize repeat clients, we just have our reservations when it comes to their approach to new customers. Since you need to book them at least a week before the boarding date, urgent bookings will not be accommodated.

We also loved that they offer cheaper rates for day boarding, perfect for working fur parents or if you just need to do your errands during the daytime.

Meanwhile, if you don’t want your cats to get stressed out in a new environment, you can also tap them for their cat-sitting services. You can just let them stay at your home as they look over your pet.

Pros

  • Cat-only boarding service
  • Quiet and comfortable environment

Cons

  • Highly prioritizes repeat clients; fewer spots for new customers
  • Urgent bookings will not be accommodated

Sends photos and videos daily

“I had a great experience here boarding my two little kittens, Rosie & Charlie, while we went out of town for 4 days. I was of course super nervous leaving them somewhere new, but all of my fears quickly faded once I saw what great care they were receiving. I got daily updates with pictures and videos, and seeing how well they settled in made me confident that I made the right choice leaving them there. The facility itself is lovely with lots of options to keep the kitties entertained and the staff are wonderful!! So much so that I think they didn’t want to leave! I wouldn’t hesitate to leave them here again- Rosie & Charlie are looking forward to returning :)”

Very hands-on service

“A review won’t be enough to suffice how much I’m grateful and lucky to have found Purrfect Cat Boarding. I had my cat stay there 5 times the past year and everything from accommodation to communication to updates was beyond perfect. Sharon the owner and her staff are very kind and professional. They’ve really looked after my cat when I was away and also acknowledged when it was hard for me to leave my cat when I’m away by giving updates and pictures frequently. My cat loves staying there and got used to the staff and the atmosphere. They really love pets and it’s very clear how caring and loving they are to their clients and their cats. Highly recommend this place for your furry pet if you’re on the look out. Their service is superb and I’m gonna miss having them close by to look after my cat.”

If you don’t mind boarding your cats along with dogs then you can include Jet Pet Resort Olympic Village to your list. Aside from boarding, we loved that this shop offers grooming services too, allowing you to have your pets groomed while waiting for you.

Another great thing about dealing with Jet Pet is that they offer pet behavioral assessments. While your cats are under their care, they will observe their behavior and routine, and keep a record so you can track their progress.

You can also tap them for training if you want your pets to be familiar with some tricks.

If you’re also a dog owner, you may also consider them if you want to schedule someone to walk them while you’re away.

While your cat is on board, we love that you can receive timely updates from their staff. They can even call you during your free time so you can see what they’re doing in real-time.

Meanwhile, we commend these guys for boarding senior cats too. While these old cats require more gentle love and care, this cat boarding facility makes necessary adjustments to meet their needs.

They will even allot more time to check for their wellbeing, ensuring they’re comfortable even with the echoing dog barks.

Pros

  • Offers grooming services
  • Also provides dog training
  • Has pet behavioral assessments

Cons

  • Has a persistent odor of urine
  • No natural lights and windows

Impressive care for senior pets

“Jet Pet Resort Olympic Village did an excellent job caring for our 18-year-old senior dog, Sherry, during her three-week stay. It’s rare to find a facility willing to accommodate such an elderly dog, and they made thoughtful adjustments to meet her needs. Sherry has limited vision and hearing, so they kept her in their office area to ensure her safety and comfort. They carefully followed our feeding instructions, and when she had a minor nosebleed, they promptly informed us and took her to the vet for care. We’re grateful to Moumita and Tanya for their kindness and attention to detail. They went above and beyond to make sure Sherry was well cared for, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for reliable and compassionate pet boarding.”

Attentive to pet’s needs

“Our Charlie Sheen loved his time at Jet Pet and we loved that he was so well taken care of. He had a great time! He did’t want to come home with me when I picked him up. The photos posted area always great to see. Charlie Sheen will definitely be returning for another stay at Jet Pet. Highly recommend Jet Pet..”

If you know your cats prefer to be boarded in a home setting, then look no further than The Cat Nanny. While it’s not a big facility, we appreciate that they provide all the essential needs your cat may need–even First Aid kits and medicines.

What sets this cat boarding service apart is that they also provide cat massages. This allows your cats to easily get along with the sitter, making them feel more relaxed in an unfamiliar environment.

We also appreciated that they offer pick-up and drop-off services, ideal for the busy cat owners out there!

For longer stays, you’ll love that they take time to bathe your cat. We even appreciated that they have grooming kits too—ready to clip their nails.

It’s worth noting, however, that this cat boarding facility has limited availability. You should book well in advance if you want to secure a spot.

Meanwhile, if you want your cats to stay at home, you can also tap The Cat Nanny to oversee your pet at home. You’ll love that it’s relatively easy to connect and align with her when you give her the house rules!

And once you’re home, you’ll love that the sitter even took time to make the living room spotless, ensuring you’ll go home to a comfortable home with your loving cat around.

Pros

  • Also offers house visits or cat sitting
  • Has pick-up and drop-off services
  • Basic pet grooming

Cons

  • Limited slots available
  • Cannot accommodate urgent bookings

Compassionate care for pets

“I just used Cat Nanny for the first time when my regular sitter was unavailable. Melissa provided excellent compassionate care for my elderly grumpy kitties and send lots of lovely updates with details of her visits and photos and videos. My cats, who don’t usually like strangers, warmed up to her very fast! Marta, the business owner, made it easy to set up the visits and ensure everything would be handled professionally. I’m very glad I found Cat Nanny!”

Jen Balfour, Google Review

Reasonable rates

“I have now used the Cat Nanny three times and have been very pleased with their service and find their rates reasonable. My catsitter Jill provides an update after her daily visits including photos and videos of my cat, which is always nice to get when I am away. And I no longer have to scramble to find a friend or family member who is available to catsit for multiple days while I’m away. Will definitely be using the Cat Nanny again in the future!”

If you’re looking for a cat boarding facility that can offer both privacy and social interaction with the other cats then The Scratching Post is the one for you!

Here, your cat can get to stay in a private villa, ideal for less-socialized pets. But don’t worry, this boarding facility takes time to train your cats to be more social.

With the package, we loved that they could receive a few hours of interaction with the other cats under the staff’s supervision.

We appreciate that they also check if your cat wants to roam around and receive cuddles, allowing them to ease into the new environment.

What’s great about this facility is that all cats have a private section to eat, rest, and play, away from the other cats.

On the other hand, if your cats are a bit older or they just get stressed out pretty easily, this boarding service provides a special facility for them—away from the more socialized cats.

Nonetheless, the staff will still give them undivided care throughout the day.

We also loved that this cat boarding facility accepts long-haul stays, offered in a cheaper package. This is perfect if you’re planning for a trip soon!

Pros

  • Offers personalized care
  • Has private rooms
  • Improves cats’ socialization skills

Cons

  • Premium rates
  • Communication skills could still be improved

Quick revert to calls

“Holli and her crew put my mind at rest for the first time sending my cats into boarding, she answered all my questions and individualized all 3 of my cats care. I was able to look everyday at photos on social media and stay in contact when needed. My cats were well looked after , on a vacation of their own. I will certainly take my cats back to Holli.”

Claire Stubley, Google Review

Accepts long-haul boarding

“Holli has been taking care of our three cats for years, and she’s always so easy to work with! You can tell she and her team truly care about the cats. Our kitties absolutely love staying at the cat hotel and soaking up all the daily attention. We’ve even booked them in for a two-month stay before, and it’s always been a great experience. Appreciate all the updates they post on IG while we’re away so we can see how the cats are doing!!”

Canine Adventure Den may be widely known for its dog boarding and training services, but this boarding facility houses cats too! And if you’re confident that your cat won’t mind the howling and barking, then you’re just in the right place.

What sets this boarding facility apart is that they have a large outdoor area, allowing all pets to freely exercise and play around. You don’t have to worry as this area is well barricaded, so no pets will ever run away from the place.

Additionally, there are several sitters stationed around the area to watch over all the cats and dogs in the area.

Speaking of security, we loved that there are several surveillance cameras in place, giving you more peace of mind that they monitor your pets wherever they are. Bonus part: you can even check recorded webcam footage to watch what they’ve been up to!

What’s also great about Canine Adventure Den is that they customize the level of attention they give to each pet. We appreciate how they gauge if your cat has the energy to play outside, or prefers to stay in to rest.

It’s worth noting, however, that grooming isn’t part of the basic boarding package. So if you want your cats to come home clean and groomed, it’s best to communicate that from the get-go!

Pros

  • Offers boarding for both cats and dogs
  • Has a large outdoor play area
  • Surveillance cameras all over the facility

Cons

  • Grooming could still be improved
  • Some areas have an overwhelming smell of urine

Convenient pick-up and drop-off

“Highly recommend Adventure Den for your daycare and overnight dog sitting needs! Pick up and drop off couldn’t be easier and my dog always comes home exhausted after his full day of playing and socializing! The staff are friendly and seem great with the dogs. Bonus points for posting photos and videos of all the dogs on Instagram!”

Caring and knowledgeable staff

“First impression was excellent. Laura is a very caring and knowledgable person. My puppy had a very good “first day at school”!”
