These 5 best motorcycle repair pros gave us peace of mind during our ride!

best-motorcycle-repair-shops-vancouver
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Last month, we finally decided to give our long-overdue road trip a go. And just as we thought my motorcycle’s ready to cruise down Vancouver roads, my bike suddenly lost power.

Of course, an engine breakdown in the middle of nowhere isn’t comforting at all! Good thing we have these motorcycle repair shops on our speed dial, ready to get us back on the road in no time.

So if you happen to have road emergencies or you simply want to have regular check-ups for your beloved motorcycle, continue reading this blog as we give you the best ones we’ve tried and tested in the city!

How much does a motorcycle repair cost in Vancouver?

Most repair shops around Vancouver will charge you $70 to $80 for labor. Minor repairs such as oil change and tire repairs start around $100, while major repairs can start around $500, depending on complexity and parts.

How we chose:

Expertise: We checked if the motorcycle repair shop hires mechanics with Red Seal certifications, showcasing their competence. We also included those that underwent factory training for big brands such as Harley Davidson.
Range of services: We included repair shops that provide maintenance services and other customizations aside from motorcycle repair.
Availability of parts: We assessed if the repair company carries both originally manufactured parts and high-quality alternatives.
Turnaround time: We considered how quick the repair shops diagnose and complete the repair, ensuring minimal downtime to their clients.

When we called Essential Motorcycle Services for a last-minute repair assessment, we were glad that they could immediately check it for us. This makes them a reliable choice for same-day and urgent appointments—so you better save them on your speed dial!

Unlike other repair shops, this one can still accommodate you even if you arrive a few minutes before closing time. Despite the late hour, they would still give you enough time and will never rush you even if it’s already beyond their business hours.

If you also have replacement tires sitting in your garage, we highly recommend that you bring them too so you can maximize the downtime.

You’ll love that their mechanics don’t insist on repairing the motorcycles right off the bat. If your motorcycle only requires a quick fix, we appreciate that they would take the time to ask you if they should continue with the repair or just instruct you on what to do.

Well, it happened to us. And since we’re already at the repair shop, we opted to let them do the hard work and just pay a minimal fee.

The bonus part is, they will allow you to wash your bike for free after all the repairs.

Pros

  • Accommodates last-minute appointments
  • Quick turnaround time
  • Doesn’t upsell services

Cons

  • Some reports of overlooked messages
  • Limited expertise in handling vintage motorcycles

High-quality of work done in under an hour

“A couple of friends recommended this place to me, and now I know why. The staff was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I went in to inquire about a new tire for my sportster. I came in today and had it installed while on my lunch break! These guys work fast! And to top it off, they have the best prices in town! These guys are awesome! Definitely coming back!”

“Great group of people here. All work I’ve had done was excellent, with a quick turn around. One of the best spots for a same day oil change too.”

For those of you who are looking for a mobile motorcycle repair service in Vancouver, make sure to contact Richelle from True Grit Moto! This shop is perfect for those who are on-the-go or well, those who simply want to save a trip to the repair shop.

When we needed a quick chain adjustment, these guys checked their calendars and booked us on their next availability. Just make sure to manage your expectations, as they can’t always accommodate same-day appointments!

If you really want to avoid a longer wait, try to request for a morning slot as their afternoons look a lot busier.

What’s great about these motorcycle repair pros is that they won’t turn over the vehicle soon after the repair. They would take their time to check the entire bike, even without trying to oversell you with additional repair stuff, of course.

Meanwhile, if you’re curious about learning how to maintain your bike, you’ll love that these guys would gladly walk you through on how you can inspect and even change the oil yourself.

We even signed up for a quick tutorial session last month. We highly recommend that you sign up one of these days, too, as these guys really love sharing their knowledge when it comes to caring for and maintaining our most-loved motorcycles.

You’ll also love that their pricing is quite fair. But if some repairs still go beyond your budget, feel free to align it with them so they can help you determine what’s urgent and what can wait.

Pros

  • Mobile repair services
  • Takes time to educate clients
  • Budget-friendly repair shop

Cons

  • Busiest during the afternoon
  • Cannot always accommodate same-day appointments

No hidden costs

“I had my scooter bike serviced by True Grit last month! Richelle and Mika were both so incredibly helpful. They drove right to my home and all I had to do was bring out my scooter bike where they were able to take care of everything right then and there! Mika connected with me directly to sort out any concerns prior to the appointment. She gave me a quote and helped me procure the necessary parts, which I found to be really efficient/effective and I felt really at ease. Most of the time, I get nervous about hidden costs – especially when I’m not someone who is very experienced with engines and mechanics. But both Richelle and Mika were super transparent and I felt like I could really trust them. When they arrived, there were incredibly easy to work with and are so friendly! And they had their pup Luna with them who was able to have a nice playdate with my own pup, Hazel, while they worked. All is to say, my scooter, which wasn’t even able to turn on, was up and running in no time! Richelle helped me flush out the carburetor, change the oil, replace the battery, pump up my tires, and do a full inspection, all for a great price. They book up very quick, so I already made sure I booked a winterizing appointment for the end of the year. I’ll probably make sure I book my summer checkup as well for next year! They also offer sessions from time to time on how to do some of these services, which is amazing, because I can tell it means that their greater philosophy and culture is a generous one–to share their wealth of knowledge on how to take care of our machines better. I really appreciate that type of learning and community they provide. If you need any type of motorcycle/scooter serviced, I highly recommend you call True Grit! They are amazing and super trustworthy! Thanks again, Richelle and Mika! <3”

Smooth communication

“Very efficient, smooth communication (setting up appointment, arriving time) and friendly! I loved her service so much 🫶 Especially when you needed some urgent help, she will show up for you with the cute tool kid van! She was also very nice showing and teaching me how I can go from here for future. Recommended!”

We always see Black and Gold Motorcycles whenever we’re out for a ride, so the moment we heard weird clicking noises from our bikes, we knew exactly where to go.

Their mechanic immediately saw us when we pulled over in front of their shop. We loved that he walked over and gave it a look, which honestly felt very reassuring.

After sharing what we’ve experienced early on, he also asked us follow-up questions before fully assessing the motorcycle. He also asked if he could take our bike around the block for a quick test drive, just to help him finalize the assessment.

You can’t expect them to finish several repairs in a few hours though, so just be prepared to hop on another ride as soon as you drop off your bike. But don’t worry, you can trust them that your bike’s ready for pickup on the next day!

What we liked most about them is that they even shared several tips on how we could catch small mechanical issues so we can avoid expensive fixes in the future!

And for those of you who own intricate motorcycle models from Honda or Harley Davidson, you’ll love that Jeff from Black and Gold can handle them for you.

Pros

  • Experience in handling Harley Davidson motorcycles
  • Thorough inspection
  • Provides test drives

Cons

  • Limited same-day fixes
  • A bit pricey

Good follow-up services

“BLACK and GOLD, not only the in shop service is exceptional, but the follow-up and out reach, provided by Jeff is a 10 out 10. NARRATIVE BELOW, Stopped in on the bike, having some odd engine/clutch issues. Jeff was super busy apologized that I’d have to wait. Wasn’t a wait, appox 3min later he is over at my bike checking some things based on what I informed him of. Jeff stated, not a serious issue, as he was hands on with the my bike. Checking this and that. He couldn’t fit in until next week. But try this and or that. Told me to reach out if I can’t fix it, as I’ve been wrenching here and there. I emailed a few days later and Jeff replied. Great service from BLACK and GOLD”

Welcoming staff and repair team

“Met with Jeff today at Black and Gold Motorcycles to discuss long overdue cam chest upgrade on my Road King as well as diagnose what i thought was a related issue. I had heard of Black and Gold and I can see why they are highly recommended. Jeff and his staff are welcoming and professional. The shop looks great, Jeff took the time to explain the best course of action and I’m looking forward to having him do this work and all future work on my motorcycles.”

One fine morning, we were going around to try various coffee spots around the city when I noticed that my bike’s clutch was acting up. At first, I was really trying to power through until we reached the next cafe, but my friend advised me to not push my luck.

Well, I’m glad I listened, as Moto Concept Inc. is just around the block. I wasn’t even expecting that these repair guys could attend to my bike right away, but they did!

As soon as we walked in, a mechanic approached us and asked us a few questions. And before we even finished narrating, he hopped on the bike and checked the clutch for issues.

Don’t worry, they will still make a comprehensive check-up before handing you the quotation. During our time, we appreciated that they didn’t try to upsell other repair services as they only highlighted the urgent ones during our visit.

We also noticed that they were fixing vintage bikes, which tells us that they’re knowledgeable in handling older models. So if you have one sitting in your garage, take this as a sign to have its long overdue repair at Moto Concept Inc—just look for Jay!

Pros

  • Can repair old motorcycle/vintage models
  • Conducts comprehensive checkups

Cons

  • Ordering of some parts may cause turnover delays
  • Limited client updates

Quick turnaround

“Very knowledgeable and helpful shop. They are willing to partner with you if you’d like to do some of the work yourself. More than once they have bailed me out of a project glitch, allowing me to continue same-day.”

Rob Menning, Google Review

Competitive pricing

“Thanks for the great service Jason and team. Very competitive pricing on tires, efficient install time (dropped off by appointment so zero wait time – then finished ahead of schedule). They did a safety check on the bike too and caught a couple of small snags for me also. Internet competitive pricing at a local brick and mortar. Best of everything. Looking forward to visiting these guys again for bike service.”

We weren’t even planning to have our motorcycles checked, but my dad was really giddy when he told us about his recent encounter with Windbell Motorcycle, so we thought, why not?

Well, it was sort of a blessing in disguise as the mechanic immediately noticed that the engine sounded a bit off the moment we pulled over. While he had a few guesses, he still took the time to assess our bike.

He also called in another mechanic just to get his expert thoughts, which shows that they really work here as a team.

After the assessment, you’ll love that they will walk you through the process, carefully explaining the repairs that should be done, including the spare parts that they have on-hand and the ones they still need to order.

And oh, speaking of parts, you can expect them to show you your bike’s old parts, which tells us a lot about their transparency.

We loved that they value our time too as they try to align their timeline with ours, ensuring there’s minimal downtime as much as possible.

Meanwhile, those who will walk in for quick fixes shouldn’t expect a lounge area for customers. There are coffee shops around the block, so we suggest staying there instead of staying in their work room for a few hours.

Also, consider dropping by in the morning for a shorter waiting time as their regular clients normally visit them in the afternoon.

But if you really want to avoid the crowd (or even save a trip), you can just take advantage of their pickup and delivery services!

Pros

  • Transparent repair process
  • Takes time to learn the bike’s repair history

Cons

  • A few reports on inconsistent quotations
  • No waiting lounge

Treats the bike as if it’s their own

“Always fantastic service, reasonable pricing, and they take care of my bike as if it’s their own. Great people, would recommend”

Offers pick-up and delivery services

“Have been their LOYAL customer since 2006 (12 years) when they were still at the old location on Esplanade Avenue. Japanese owned & staffed, knows what they do more than any overpriced dealership shops. Fairly priced & fast quality work. They even offer pick ups & delivers your bikes. Handles all types of motorcycles from any brands any sizes, even the nice reception lady her name is Noriko is very knowledgeable about bikes. Bring your bikes here, you all won’t be disappointed!! A full 5 stars from me! 👍👍”
