10 amazing restaurants in Steveston Village that made us not want to leave!

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

We initially felt like the restaurants and food choices around Steveston Village would be a little boring. We were overly confident with our claims that we almost cancelled our weekend plans.

Just when we thought that it’s all clams, oysters, or crabs, this fisherman’s port proved us wrong! Aside from these seafood offerings, this village surprised us by having different international cuisines and comforting dishes we’re familiar with.

So make sure to come in hungry (or even hangry) when visiting this side of the town because this place can give you dishes to feast on aside from their catch of the day!

Contact Details: +1 778-919-3866
Operating Hours: Wednesday – Monday: 11:30 AM – 9:00 PM

It’s not always easy to find Malaysian restaurants around Vancouver, so when we found out about Nyonya House in Steveston Village, we made sure to book a table! Well, they only have five tables that could sit four each so we had to secure those seats.

This restaurant is also run by a husband and wife with no waiters, so make sure to bring lots of patience when you visit their restaurant.

Additionally, you should also consider ordering all dishes in one go as extra orders often end up at the bottom of the priority list.

While you’re here, don’t forget to try their taro ring dish and beef rendang. And for those who like it on the bland side, you can also try their hor fun dish.

You’ll also love that the serving sizes are great, perfect if you want to share a meal or two with a friend.

There’s also homemade sambal and kaya spread that you can take home. So if you’re just visiting Steveston Village for the weekend, then it’s probably a good idea to buy some in case you crave for Malaysian food again!

Operating Hours: Wednesday – Thursday: 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM; Friday – Sunday: 12:30 PM – 10:00 PM

Another asian restaurant but with a fine dining touch is Baan Lao Fine Thai Cuisine. It’s a great spot to celebrate a special occasion as it’s peaceful and romantic at the same time.

You also get to enjoy the view of the river while dining in. For the best spot, consider requesting a table by the window!

This Thai restaurant serves high tea lunch where you get to try several Thai dishes paired with five distinct teas. This is only available from Friday to Sunday though, so you better plan your weekend accordingly.

Meanwhile, if you come here for dinner, you can expect the chef to introduce herself at the end of your meal. She even wanted to know what she could improve, which tells us that they really value their customers’ feedback.

While you’re here, make sure to order the traditional Thai tea. While it wasn’t part of the dinner set, it was the highlight of our dinner, so don’t miss out on that one too!

Operating Hours: Thursday – Monday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM

If you’re craving Taiwanese cuisine, CHJ Bistro in Steveston Village serves authentic dishes in Steveston Village.

Once you enter the restaurant, you’ll immediately feel the warmth from its dark interiors and quirky decors. We felt like we were transported to the laid-back countryside of Taiwan—just with a playful touch!

And speaking of warmth, this restaurant has pretty thoughtful servers, too. It was too windy when we came, and instead of letting us wait outside, she asked us if we wanted to stay inside the car first as we waited for our turn.

Here, fish belly soup was our personal favorite. Aside from being flavorful, it’s also packed with nutrition from its high collagen content.

You’ll also love that they’re known for their generous serving portions, making them an ideal option for big groups dining in.

Did you ever debate with your friends over hot coffee versus iced coffee? We always do! Some of us would even swear it’s a crime to start the day with something cold.

Well, whatever you decide to get on your next brunch date, you’ll enjoy it here at Chef’s Playground Eatery—trust us, we’ve tried them all!

They also have a wide selection, so in case you’re planning to grab your brunch here for the entire week, you can try something new every day.

Brunch isn’t complete without hash browns, too. In this cafe, you can grab crispy garlic hash browns that pair well with their chicken and waffles.

If you prefer something heavier during brunch, don’t miss out on their truffle brisket. Just take note that the truffle flavor is a bit strong, so if you’re not a fan of this flavor, then it’s probably best to avoid it.

All meals also come with a salad, great for those who like something simple and fresh in the morning. And for those who love spicy food, you’ll love that they have 14 kinds of hot sauce that you can choose from!

If you’re craving breakfast food but can’t manage to wake up too early (who wants to leave a comfortable bed while on a vacation anyway?), then head over to Toast To Coast Brunch Bar.

Here, you get to enjoy your favorite breakfast food, such as waffles and pancakes. But hey, it’s not your traditional dish, as you get to enjoy it in Korean-style like the ones you watch in every K-drama!

Meanwhile, the younger crowd loves visiting this brunch spot because of the photobooth setup inside the cafe. So you can queue and take some photos while you wait for your meals to be served.

This restaurant is also located near the coast, so you can take a nice walk by the sea after enjoying your meal. We even noticed that a few locals would visit this brunch spot after jogging around the coast.

Contact Details: +1 604-284-1222
Operating Hours: Sunday – Thursday: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM; Friday – Saturday: 11:00 AM – 12:00 AM

Here at Catch Kitchen & Bar, you can either sit inside or by the patio, and still get a great view of the harbour. Well, we tried staying out on the patio, and we’ve got to say it’s a great spot to enjoy the best views of the Fraser River.

The place is also bright, so it’s a perfect place to have a cheerful catch-up with your friends (and snap some great Insta-worthy selfies!).

If you wish to stay outside, the servers will give you blankets to make your stay more comfortable.

You also don’t need to wait for their happy hour to enjoy their mojito. It’s the best pair for their nachos anyway, so make sure to order their cocktails during your stay.

We only wish that they served larger portions of pasta!

Kove Kitchen

If you love a great harbour view with a burger on the side, then Kove Kitchen is for you! This restaurant is located right next to a river, so expect a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere while enjoying a great meal.

Here’s a little tip: visit this restaurant before sunset if you want the best scene in this great spot in Steveston Village.

We visited this restaurant last spring and while they’ve got high foot traffic during this season, they were able to maintain its good food quality. Our top favorites were their butter chicken and cabbage rolls, which are enough to be shared by two people.

When it comes to their service, you’ll love that the waiters would frequently check up on you, ensuring you’ll get everything you need—yes, even if you’re staying outdoors!

Pets are also allowed in the restaurant, so bring your furry pals along if you want some company.

Pajo’s Fish & Chips

Contact Details: +1 604-272-1588
Operating Hours: Monday – Friday: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Saturday – Sunday: 11:00 AM – 6:30 PM

A lovely view of the harbour won’t be complete without fish and chips on the side, so if you happen to be here at Steveston Village during the summer season, we recommend dropping by at Pajo’s Fish & Chips.

Just be ready to queue for about an hour, especially if you’re heading here on a weekend. Consider visiting on a weekday or early in the morning to beat the crowds.

We love that we always get a fresh batch of crispy goodness whenever we’re here. They prepare them on the spot, so don’t ever worry about getting stale dishes at Pajo’s!

For tartar sauce monsters (like us!), make sure to order an extra serving, as one isn’t enough. And oh, did we mention the fries are refillable too?

Steveston Seafood House

Operating Hours: Monday – Saturday: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM; Sunday: 10:30 AM – 2:00 PM, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Of course, when there’s a fishing port, there’s also a traditional seafood restaurant nearby. And here at Steveston Village, you can get your oyster and scallop fix with a fancy touch at Steveston Seafood House.

We didn’t expect that they would have a fine dining setup, so we got a little worried since we were pretty underdressed. But the moment we walked in, the waiter made us feel comfortable.

We brought our two-year old baby with us, and we’re glad that they have high chairs available in the restaurant. The waiter even handed us crayons, which really kept tantrums at bay.

Aside from the impressive food presentation, we were surprised to see that the portions were big. We only got the 3-course meal, but we were full at the end of the night.

Don’t forget to take advantage of their fresh oysters too!

The Crab King

Operating Hours: Monday – Sunday: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM

If you want a more immersive experience while enjoying your favorite seafood dishes, then you would definitely enjoy your time here at The Crab King.

This restaurant is situated on a floating platform, so you don’t just get to admire the views of the harbour and the boats around—you get to be part of it too!

They keep their windows open, so even if you opt to stay indoors, you could still enjoy the refreshing breeze from the outdoors.

We also think that you’ll love the onsite tanks and aquariums filled with their fresh catch of the day. We personally enjoyed hand picking our meals before we took pictures of the view.

They also serve your favorite comfort food with a seafood twist. Our top favorites were the lobster sandwich, the crab king poutine, and their crab burger—make sure to grab these as you won’t get to see these elsewhere!
