When we moved to Vancouver, we were so excited to explore the city that we didn’t have much time to prepare for its rainy, and most of the time, unpredictable weather.
As we walked through our neighborhood, we noticed that all homes have stylish and textured walls. We asked one of them and the moment we learned about stucco, we knew we had to contact the best contractors in town too.
Now, we’re a huge fan of stucco, we even made sure to have it checked by the contractors regularly. So if you need to make sure your home is ready for the next heavy rain, make sure to bookmark this page or save them on your contact list!
How much does a stucco cost in Vancouver?
For larger projects, a California stucco will range from $12 to $15 per square foot, while acrylic stucco will range from $13.50 to $16 per square foot.
Meanwhile, smaller jobs or those under $10,000 may incur a larger cost per square foot.
How we chose:
- Material quality: We included stucco contractors that utilize high-grade stucco materials for waterproofing and topcoats over subpar materials.
- Project portfolio: We considered stucco contractors with experiences in handling various works for residential and commercial spaces, including heritage restorations. We also checked for the durability of the finished product.
- Type of stucco finishes: We included contractors that can provide different types of stucco finishes such as traditional, acrylic, and those with decorative textures.
- Turnaround time: We assessed how fast these stucco contractors can work, ensuring they stick with their clients’ timelines.

During the Christmas holidays, we normally repaint our home exteriors so our decorations would stand out even more. And last year, we wanted to use stucco finish that would not just look timeless, but will also be durable for years.
When we saw that our neighbor’s stucco finish still looked fresh after three years, we just knew we had to get their contractor for our little home renovation. That’s when we knew Sunrise Painting & Stucco Ltd–and we’re glad we did!
We’re well aware that other contractors would take advantage of new clients, especially if they don’t have past experiences to compare the quality and price with, but we didn’t experience it with this company.
From the initial quotation to the timeline itself, these guys provided us with all honest information. And if you ever need them to be flexible with your schedule, just let them know and they will tweak their production timeline for you.
They also made sure to provide the necessary repairs first before they begin with the stucco application. Even better, they prepped the surface well by power washing it too!
And lastly, seeing their foreman constantly checking the project also brought us additional peace of mind. And if you’re just at home, he would try to connect with you so he could give you real-time updates.
High attention to detail
“Richard’s price was very reasonable and the work Chuck and Julian did was excellent. They are very detail oriented and did all the little things that contribute to a beautiful looking house. I have already recommended them to a customer of mine.”

“Second time working with Richard at Sunrise. Responsive, reasonably priced and high quality work. Highly recommend.”

If you’re looking for a contractor that responds quickly after giving you an initial quotation then you’ll love the proactiveness of Mueller Renovation.
This contractor is also one of the best ones to connect with for those who have a tight project timeline. Best part is that these guys would even stay during the late hours just to finish the project on time.
It’s also great that they still exert their energy and time to keep the space clean and tidy everyday. We didn’t even have to clean up after them, which is a plus especially for working professionals who arrive late at home.
Additionally, we’re still glad to see them arrive on time the next day, which tells us how dedicated they are with their job.
Don’t worry if your current stucco surface has cracks and chips, as you don’t need to fix them all at once. This contractor can spot treat and even color match them so it blends well with the original one.
In fact, they recently repaired the exterior stucco finish in our parents’ home and they were able to color match the 1950’s stucco perfectly.
And while there was a little oversight, it’s great that they don’t let their clients wait for too long before revisiting the site.
Great color and texture matching
“Thank you Peter! The stucco work is excellent and well matched to the original stucco finish on our older home. We are in the midst of a significant renovation and Peter did excellent work on both the newly constructed garden suite and multiple stucco patchwork required on the upper story after the house was raised. His work is of high quality and professionally done. It was a pleasure having him work on our project.”

It’s impressive that they were evidently clear throughout the entire project duration. The contractor was even transparent with the materials and tools they’d be using, allowing them to provide a quotation without hidden fees.
What’s great about them is that they can provide you cost estimates based on pictures. Even better, they stick with their ballpark costs ensuring that you won’t shell out more than what you were originally informed.
Another thing that we loved about them is that they won’t oversell. But don’t worry, they will still give you lots of related advice as soon as you ask them for it.
Since we couldn’t manage to get a new stucco surface for the entire house, we were quite worried that the new ones would be too obvious. To our surprise, these pros were able to match our current stucco finish, making it look like it was done all at once.
They also don’t turn down small jobs. So if you just need their help for small spot treatments or minor redos, then don’t hesitate to reach out!
However, it’s worth noting that these guys leave their tools and materials on the worksite. And while they keep things tidy and organized, we still suggest that all hazardous tools are kept out of your children’s reach.
Cleans up the worksite
“Steve did a really good job repairing a rock dash stucco patch on our 1929 bungalow.
His pricing is reasonable, and the project was completed on time and on budget. The job site was cleaned up while work was being done and after the the work was completed. Thanks Steve for the great work!”

Reasonable rates

Selecting a contractor based on past projects alone could be easy, but First Choice Stucco made it even easier for us when they showed us their high attention to detail during our first meeting.
We noticed that they carefully inspected even the tiniest corners in our home and noted on areas that needed attention–including those that we haven’t even noticed.
They also made sure to document everything by taking photos with detailed explanations in each section, just to make sure everyone on their team, including us, were on the same page.
We also felt like we were not just here to pay for the project, but they asked for our design preferences.
And in case you suggest a specific design that won’t look very pleasing, you’ll love that they’re transparent and would just give you better advice without overstepping boundaries.
We’re just not happy with their color matching skills, especially for stucco surfaces with different textures. This could be a big issue, especially for areas that are highly visible.
And while their workers arrive on time, the project duration could be a little longer than expected, especially if they encounter delays during delivery of materials.
Very informative
“Their team did a outstanding job on the stucco, they were very informative and professional. Would highly recommended this company and I will be choosing them for future projects.”

“Great quality of work for a great price. Will definitely go to them again when I build another house. Highly recommend!”

When we got J&K Stucco for a minor stucco repair in our garage, we were happy with the level of attention and detail they provided, even for a small project. That’s why when we had to patch some areas in our patio, we knew exactly who to call.
If you’re living in an old house, don’t worry if its existing stucco has been phased out. You’ll be surprised that this contractor can still provide you options that can perfectly match the color and texture you have at home.
They also noticed minor cracks and did a few touch ups in some corners without an extra cost. So if you’re looking for a contractor that won’t take advantage of upselling or overpricing, then we highly recommend J&K.
You also don’t need to be on the site while they work. If you’re worried about getting limited responses if you’re not on site, then you’ll surely love that these guys remain responsive through email or via call.
Additionally, you don’t have to allot time and energy in cleaning up your space. Before leaving your house, these stucco pros will make sure to clear all the debris, and wipe down all the dust.
They will even carry the trash with them so you won’t have to take care of the disposal too!
Very knowledgeable
”Thank you Joey for the great job! Very professional and answered all questions. Very knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend.”

No additional cost for extra work done
“Joey recently repaired stucco at my place in Burnaby. He was knowledgeable, fair, and did great work. I was a bit skeptical about how well the stucco could be matched, but it turned out really good. He also added in some minor touch ups at no extra cost. Definitely worth giving them a call if you need work done.”
